WWE to host tryout during SummerSlam weekend that’s open to fans, Big E involved as talent evaluator

WWE has used their big events as catalysts to discover the future stars of the company. As a result of their last tryout during WrestleMania Week, WWE signed Bellator fighter Valerie Loureda, who became the first Cuban-American woman to sign with WWE. That, along with their “Next In Line” NIL program, shows their focus on developmental talent, an important part of the industry.

For SummerSlam Week, WWE is going one step further and allowing fans to attend their SummerSlam Tryout in Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon. Starting on Wednesday, July 27, fans will be able to attend the three-day event as WWE evaluates more than 50 male and female prospects who are either current college athletes or have recently graduated college and played collegiate sports. That includes several who were in this year’s NFL rookie minicamps.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 15 at 1 p.m. ET on Ticketmaster. Prices range from $20 for general admission to $100 for VIP access, which will include a ring photograph with WWE Superstars and Legends.

In addition, Big E will be on hand as a talent evaluator. Recovering from a broken neck, Big E has unique experience that some of the other evaluators may not have. He’s a former collegiate athlete (football at the University of Iowa) and is a current WWE Superstar. Big E can take these prospects through things like promos and in-ring work and give advice on how to set yourself apart in WWE while also showing the seriousness of the business and that you can possibly get seriously injured.

There aren’t too many people more suitable to working with the prospects as Big E. It’s great that he remains involved with the company while he recovers.
