Earlier this year, WWE star Triple H retired from professional wrestling after a near-death experience that resulted in emergency heart surgery and a defibrillator being placed in his chest. While Triple H will not be returning to the ring, he is getting back into the wrestling world.
The WWE announced on Friday that Paul “Triple H” Levesque will be returning to his executive position as executive vice president of talent relations, effective immediately. Naturally, the wrestling icon was ecstatic about the news.
“I look forward to returning to my prior position as head of Talent Relations,” Triple H said in a WWE statement. “I’m healthy, fired up, and ready to take charge.”
The news is a positive turn for Triple H after he suffered a scary, life-threatening event earlier this year that began with viral pneumonia and ended with an emergency trip to the hospital to save his life.
“Basically the way your heart pumps out 55-65% of your ejection fraction is a good number. I was at 30,” Triple H told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. “And I got a quick text message saying, ‘Don’t take time. Pack a bag real quick, head to the emergency room. I’ll fill you in on the way.’”
Triple H survived and is able to make a full recovery, but he’s made it very clear that he is done wrestling.
“As far as in-ring, which I get a lot, I’m done,” Triple H said. “I will never wrestle again. First of all, I have a defibrillator in my chest, and it’s not a good idea for me to get zapped on live TV.”
