While the main event of WrestleMania Night 1 was a triple threat match between three of WWE’s biggest stars in Roman Reigns, CM Punk and Seth Rollins, much of the attention going into the match was centered on Paul Heyman. That was certainly the case coming out of it.
Heyman was in the corner of his friend, Punk, instead of his Tribal Chief, Reigns. But if the match was on the line and Heyman could only help one of them, who would it be? As it turned out, neither.
With Rollins seemingly out of the action, Heyman grabbed a chair. Punk and Reigns, both struggling to their feet, asked Heyman to slide the chair to them. It initially looked as though Heyman’s help would go to the man he was in the corner of, Punk, as Heyman slid the chair to him. But as Punk went to hit Reigns, Heyman dropped to his knees and delivered a low blow. After screaming at Punk, Heyman took the chair over to Reigns, who promptly nailed Punk with it multiple times.
Heyman then directed Reigns’ attention to Rollins, who was slowly getting to his feet. But as Reigns went to level Rollins, Heyman once again dropped to a knee and delivered a low blow, this time to Reigns.
With that, Night 1 of WrestleMania ended with a huge twist. Heyman turned on both Punk and Reigns to align himself with Rollins, who won the match.
The turn created a huge buzz among wrestling fans.
