WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, a longtime announcer for the professional wrestling company, is currently recovering after suffering a stroke at his home. The 73-year-old is currently recovering at a Florida hospital following emergency surgery.
Action News 5 first reported the story while PWInsider added that the incident occurred on Monday at Lawler’s Fort Myers home.
Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has reported that Lawler suffered “a blood blockage” on the right side of his brain, saying that was unable to speak and “has no feeling on the right side of his body.”
Lawler is a living legend in the professional wrestling world. While he is best known for his time with the WWF/WWE, mostly as an announcer, he had a long and storied wrestling career before that. Lawler won many championships, including the AWA World Heavyweight Championship, WCWA World Heavyweight Championship: and USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship. He also had an infamous feud with comedian Andy Kaufman.
The legendary Memphis wrestler has had a few health setbacks over the years, suffering a heart attack on-air during a 2012 episode of Raw as well as a previous stroke in 2018.
The wrestling world shared its well-wishes and support for Lawler as he recovers from his medical issue.
