After a career spanning more than 30 years, WWE Executive Producer and Head of Global Television Distribution Kevin Dunn will reportedly be retiring from the company.
Dunn’s time with WWE saw a lot of changes to “traditional” professional wrestling production that led to many of the norms we see today, for better or worse.
The report from PWInsider notes Dunn’s decision was inspired by WWE’s merger with Endeavor to form TKO in September and the declining influence of Vince McMahon, whom Dunn and his family had strong ties to dating back to when Dunn and McMahon’s fathers both worked together in the WWF.
One of the biggest critiques of Dunn’s production style, especially over the past decade, is the excessive amount of camera cuts throughout every single WWE show.
Social media had a lot to say about the news of Dunn’s departure, and very little if any of it was positive.
“Now Kevin Dunn can finally start on his passion project,” One fan tweeted. “A feature film that gives everybody who watches it a migraine.”
Another fan said, “On Monday they’ll need to do a 21 camera-cut salute for Kevin Dunn.”
