Pro wrestling is physical and when it’s physical, it can be dangerous. Even with every precaution taken, things happen and someone could be injured.
Thankfully, no one was injured at a WWE live event in Newcastle, England as the top rope broke during the main event between Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley. McIntyre stayed in the ring but Lashley took a scary tumble to the floor. Lashley got back into the ring and was able to finish the match.

As you can see in the clip, the two competitors hit the ropes from opposite directions but the rope breaks in the split second between McIntyre hiting the ropes and Lashley hitting them. And when you’re 270+ pounds like Lashley is and you’re putting all your weight onto a rope that suddenly breaks right before you’re putting all your weight into the ropes, you’re taking a spill.
It’s very rare that something like this happens and it’s not part of the story. Usually when something in the ring breaks, it’s part of the story and the wrestlers are able to anticipate for that. This didn’t seem like one of those times but thankfully things seemed to have worked out for the best.
Both Lashley and McIntyre were able to see the humor in what happened.
