Wednesday’s game between the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces featured a number of WNBA records getting broken, but Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu clearly stole the show.
Ionescu took over Wednesday’s game in a big way, finishing the game with 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in a Liberty victory.
This marks the third triple-double in her career which ties her with two-time WNBA MVP Candace Parker as the only two players in WNBA history to have three triple-doubles.
That is obviously an extremely prestigious list to be a part of, and many took to social media to give Ionescu her props after her impressive display on Wednesday.
Ionescu is also the first player in WNBA history to ever record a 30-point triple-double, making it arguably the most impressive triple-double in the history of the league.
Aside from Ionescu’s impressive performance, the game was also extremely memorable as a bunch of WNBA records fell.
The Aces and Liberty combined to score 223 points, the most ever in regulation for a WNBA game.
31 combined three-point shots were made in the game, which broke the record for a WNBA game. Las Vegas’s 107 points also broke the record for points scored by a losing team.
Considering Ionescu is only in her third season and is already tied for the most WNBA triple-doubles ever, it is very likely that she will go on to break that record, and continue to be one of the best players in the sport for years to come.
