Earlier this month, news broke that Atlanta Falcons rookie James Pearce Jr. had been involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend, Los Angeles Sparks star Rickea Jackson.
Per reports, officers were dispatched after a dispute between the pair, and Pearce fled the scene before ultimately crashing at Northwest 103rd Avenue and 66th Street, where he was handcuffed.
Andy Slater of FOX Sports reported that Pearce had been accused of “intentionally crashing his Lamborghini into (Jackson’s) car multiple times, trying to stop her from getting to a police station,” and even drove into an officer’s knee.
Now, we know how Jackson plans on responding to the developing situation.
“WNBA player Rickea Jackson’s attorneys filed a court notice Tuesday in Miami-Dade (Florida) County saying that she is “willing to testify” against Atlanta Falcons player James Pearce Jr. if the domestic violence charges against him go to trial, according to a document,” reported ESPN on Twitter.
For his part, Pearce has Jacob Nunez, Yale Sanford and Joshua Cohen as his representation, and is maintaining his innocence.
“We look forward to working with the State Attorney’s Office in fully investigating this case and uncovering the truth,” the three lawyers said in a statement. “Mr. Pearce maintains his innocence and urges the public to understand that while allegations have the power to shape a narrative, that it is hardly the full, complete story.”
If Pearce is unable to show his innocence, he may be looking at a scenario where he is no longer on the Falcons’ roster come training camp, despite a breakout rookie season that saw him finish with 10.5 sacks.
