It’s all happening in Indianapolis, Indiana. It’s hard to argue that there’s any North American athlete with more star power, and just about impossible to argue there’s a bigger name in the sport of basketball. Unfortunately, the WNBA has had to do without Clark for over two weeks while she recovers from a quad injury.
While Clark has been focusing on her recovery, her presence has been missed greatly, as evidenced by the ratings across the WNBA during her absence. According to Yahoo Sports, national TV ratings have declined by 55% during Clark’s absence.
Luckily for fans and Clark, the star is set to return for Saturday’s game against the New York Liberty, which will also be a Commissioner’s Cup game.
Fans reacted to the impact Clark’s absence had on ratings on social media.
“This league going to fold because they can’t protect this girl. She is the most exciting woman athlete to watch,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Turns out what we all knew to be true…..was, in fact, true, “another fan added.
“This is the least surprising news I’ve ever seen on this app. It would be down about 80% if it weren’t for the people gambling on it,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Clark is 100% when she returns against the Liberty.
