Last week, Caitlin Clark was able to lead the Indiana Fever to a 90-82 win over the Golden State Valkyries thanks to some prolific shooting. But that certainly was not the case in Thursday’s rematch.

In a rematch of last week’s contentious showdown, Clark struggled from start to finish. The Fever star ended Thursday night’s game well below her season average in scoring, shooting percentage, rebounds, and assists, while turning the ball over five times, dooming the team.

Clark finished the game with just 16 points – her lowest total of the year – making just 25% of her shots from the floor. She also had five turnovers, which is more than she had made shots in the game, and two of them came in the final two minutes of the one-score game. She also airballed a shot that could have tied the game late.

It was a rough game for Clark by any stretch and she did not escape criticism on social media as a result.

Clark Faces Criticism

Following the game, Clark took some heavy criticism on social media for what was undoubtedly the worst performance of the season thus far.

The Caitlin Clark hype train is officially dead. She is not a good basketball player. The Fever play much better when she’s not on the court,” one fan wrote in a post on X.

Just watched some of the fever game. Not sure what’s happened to Caitlin Clark, but she’s not the same player she used to be. I thought she was gonna change women’s hoops too,” someone else wrote.

“Caitlin Clark is averaging almost 24 per game. Also, she shoots the ball terribly because of taking bad shots. Also, she leads the League in turnovers by a lot at over 5 per game. Also, she is one of the worst defenders on the League,” another fan added.

“I’m a huge Caitlin Clark supporter, but her bag is very suspect. She only knows to initiate offense to the left, can’t create much separation and can sometimes be a turnover machine. She’s also inconsistent from three, can’t defend at all and her body language is terrible,” someone else wrote.

Caitlin Clark hooping like Calvin Cambridge without the shoes,” another fan added, referencing the movie Like Mike.

Back to back turnovers for the ‘mvp’ Caitlin Clark in the clutch,” someone else said.

Clark and the Fever will have a chance to bounce back with a game against the Portland Fire on Saturday night.
