The Indiana Fever drafted point guard Raven Johnson out of the University of South Carolina in the first round of the 2026 WNBA draft. Through three preseason games, Johnson showed exactly why she was drafted in the first round, flashing both her disruptive ability on the defense, as well as her ability to ball handle and run the point, which should make Caitlin Clark’s job much easier.
At Monday’s practice, Johnson was asked about what she’s learned from head coach Stephanie White.
“Oh, she’s funny,” Johnson said. “Don’t tell her this, but her wife came to practice the other day, and I was like, ‘Dang! You got some taste! Her wife is beautiful.'”
Reporters laughed at Johnson’s candidness.
“She’s teaching me a lot of things, she gets on me. I think she’s a great coach, a great person to go to, and I ask her a lot of questions often,” Johnson added of White’s basketball acumen.
During the same practice, White spoke to reporters about the injury status of forward Monique Billings.
“We have an opportunity, as with most ankle tweaks, to reevaluate tomorrow and see where she is,” White said, per Fever reporter Chloe Peterson.
The Fever opens its season on May 10 against the Dallas Wings, in a showcase of the league’s last four first overall picks.
