Caitlin Clark is the biggest star in the WNBA right now, but one two-time NBA champion is claiming that the Indiana Fever no longer want her on the team, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.
In a post on X this week, Mychal Thomson, a two-time NBA champion and the father of longtime NBA superstar Klay Thompson, claimed that the Indiana Fever “don’t want Caitlin [Clark] no more,” claiming that his information came from a “reliable source.”
Clark on the Move?
This week, Clark faced some heavy criticism following her on-court struggles as well as her heated exchange with head coach Stephanie White on the sideline.
Amid all the discourse about Clark, Thompson claimed that he was hearing from a “reliable source” that the Fever did not want Clark anymore, and he implored the Los Angeles Sparks to “go get her.”
“I’m hearing from a reliable source the Fever dont want Caitlin no more…SPARKS…Go get her…NOW!!!” Thompson wrote in a post on X.
In a follow-up post, Thompson said he was hearing that the Fever were “sick” of Clark.
“Yeah…I hear the FEVER…are ‘SICK’…of Clark…Yall hearin that too?” Thompson wrote.
Thompson is not the only one suggesting that such a move could happen. Media personality Jason Whitlock
“The Indiana Fever are planning to ship Caitlin Clark to the Los Angeles Sparks. I expect UCLA coach Cori Close to be the head coach of the Sparks,” Whitlock wrote in a post on X.
It’s not clear where Whitlock and Thompson are getting their information, but it’s worth noting that no credible members of the media have reported this. In fact, longtime reporter Jeff Goodman openly mocked the report from Whitlock.
No Sign of Bad Blood
Despite these reports and the sideline incident between Clark and White, there’s no actual indication that there is any bad blood between Clark and anyone within the organization.
In fact, Clark spoke rather highly of White this week, indicating that she would “ride” for White for the rest of her life.
“When I got hurt at the Connecticut game last year, I bawled in Steph’s arms. That’s somebody I will ride for, for the rest of my life,” Clark said via The Athletic. “People that just sit on their phones all day, they don’t see those moments. They don’t see the moments when we come into work. They don’t see the moments that absolutely suck, and people have your back. But they think they know everything, and in reality, they don’t have a clue.”
We’ll have to see what comes of these reports from Whitlock and Thompson.
