The Indiana Fever were expected to be at the center of the WNBA’s marketing strategy this summer. Unfortunately, the Fever have been decimated by injuries, including to star point guard Caitlin Clark, who has already missed 28 games this season.

Clark has been dealing with a groin injury since shortly before the All-Star break, and has yet to appear in the second half of the season as the regular season winds down to its final games.

However, things are on the up and up for the superstar, as new practice footage is showing that she’s making a return to basketball activities after her prolonged absence.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Don’t get our hopes up. It’s pointless for her to come back with half a team. Why risk it,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Still no full 5 on 5 practice. No contact. This is not a good sign for Caitlin Clark returning. Even if she does return, there is no time to ramp up her cardio for the playoffs,” one fan added.

“Just another attempt by the WNBA to fake out fans. They know without Caitlin Clark the interest in the league is going down,” wrote another fan.

It’ll be interesting to see if Clark suits up if the Fever manage to hold on to the eighth seed for the WNBA playoffs.
