Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) celebrates a three-point basket Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, during the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The Indiana Fever reached the WNBA playoffs despite being without Caitlin Clark, arguably the best player in the league, for most of the season due to injuries, including a nasty groin injury that has kept her on the sidelines since just before the All-Star break.

However, many fans speculated that the Fever would bring Clark back if the Fever managed to advance past the Atlanta Dream in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear a return is in the cards, regardless of how far the Fever advance.

According to the Indy Star, Clark is ineligible to return, no matter how far the Fever advance because she was left off of the active roster that Indiana submitted ahead of the WNBA playoffs.

Fans reacted to the brutal news on social media.

“Fever FO really screwed this up then. Or whoever made the call for her to not play,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“So why is she practicing with the team? Why don’t they completely shut her down so she can actually heal??” someone else wanted to know.

“I would say there’s more to this than just her injuries. Stuff in the background. I hope she goes to unrivaled. There won’t be a wnba season next year due to a lockout,” another fan speculated.

Hopefully, whenever Clark does return to the court, she’s at full strength.
