Atlanta Falcons standout rookie James Pearce Jr. was arrested on Saturday in Florida following an alleged domestic dispute involving Los Angeles Sparks forward Rickea Jackson, per local news.
Officers were dispatched to DPD headquarters for a reported dispute between a male and female, and said that Pearce Jr. fled the scene before ultimately crashing at Northwest 103rd Avenue and 66th Street, where he was handcuffed.
Jail records show that Pearce has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and one count each of aggravated stalking and fleeing or eluding police with lights or siren.
FOX Sports’ Andy Slater reported that Pearce had been accused of “intentionally crashing his Lamborghini into (Jackson’s) car multiple times, trying to stop her from getting to a police station.”
Slater followed up with a report on more details of what allegedly transpired.
“Pearce Jr. also intentionally drove into a police officer, hitting the cop’s knee in an effort to get away, I’m told. The Atlanta Falcons linebacker is ‘lucky to be alive’ after that, a high-ranking police source tells me.”
Jackson played in an Unrivaled league game earlier on Saturday afternoon, posting a stat line of 15 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. She has, at the time of this writing, not released a public statement regarding the incident.
