Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has built Barstool into one of the biggest brands in the country. In fact, Barstool has seemingly grown past sports, intertwining with pop culture as a whole these days.
However, Portnoy has also found himself being accused of being sexist due to various sexual assault allegations levied against him and comments that he has made in the past, before Barstool was as big a brand as it is today.
However, many may be shocked to see how much Portnoy supports women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark.
“This may be the most incredible Caitlin Clark video I’ve ever seen. A lost scrimmage video vs the men’s practice team at Iowa in which Caitlin goes berserker mode and scores 22 points in 2 minutes. She is the one,” Portnoy posted on Twitter on Tuesday morning, along with the accompanying clip.
Fans on social media reacted to Portnoy’s tweet.
“People here trying to downplay this are just jealous. Yes, it’s an edited practice tape but that doesn’t change the fact that she is unique in the women’s game. Exciting. Dynamic. Killer instinct. Entertaining,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“So many demoralizing threes in a row. They know they just have to stop her but they can’t,” one fan added.
“These clips are absolutely nuts. I also can’t imagine having (and earning) that kind of green light in a practice scrimmage,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Portnoy is able to bring Clark onto one of his podcasts as a guest in the near future.
