Indianapolis, Indiana, got the services of the most popular athlete in the country back over the weekend when Caitlin Clark returned from injury. Clark impressed in her return, scoring 32 points to help the Indiana Fever hand the New York Liberty their first loss of the season.
Clark’s second game back was on Tuesday night against the Connecticut Sun. The Fever prevailed once again, but there was a particularly frightening moment in the game for Fever fans.
Clark was poked in the eye by one Sun player and the violently shoved to the floor by another.
Fans reacted to the shocking news on social media.
“They’re all so angry at Clark for making the big money while they’re making peanuts…..Plus Caitlin gets all the attention and they don’t. LOL,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“How the hell is Caitlin Clark getting a tech for being fouled and body checked to the ground AFTER the play is dead. WNBA is not a serious league,” another fan added.
“Mabrey should have been ejected! Poor sportsmanship. Sorry referee’s. Come on WNBA Commissioner can we get consistency before someone gets seriously hurt,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if more punishment is handed out after the game.
