Indiana Fever phenom and face of the WNBA, Caitlin Clark, was forced to miss over two weeks of play earlier this season with a quad injury, her first time missing game action since her high school days.
Since returning to play, Clark has struggled shooting the ball from distance, but the Fever have been able to stay afloat and remain firmly in the playoff picture, sitting at 7-7 on the year entering Thursday.
Unfortunately, the Fever will have to weather Clark’s absence again, per the franchise’s official Twitter account.
“Status Report for tonight’s game vs. Los Angeles: Caitlin Clark – Out (left groin)”
Fever head coach Stephanie White spoke with reporters about the injury.
“Steph White said Caitlin Clark reported pain to the training staff last night, then got an MRI on her groin. White said CC is “day-to-day” and did not specify if the MRI showed a strain,” tweeted Fever reporter Chloe Peterson.
Fans reacted to the devastating news on social media.
“okay yeah feels like load management/rest. doesnt excuse her being in the game with 16 seconds to go or whatever. just heal up and take your time,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Please sit her out the next couple of games to get her back 100% healthy. No need to rush her back,” one fan added.
“Caitlin has been off multiple games she probably been dealing with this but was like last night, let me tell them and get it checked out. As you see these injuries or something that the player has to report. Staff can’t just assume! She’s day to day! Let’s just pray and wait!” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see how many games Clark misses this time.
