WNBA fans sorely missed watching Indiana Fever phenom Caitlin Clark dominate on the floor for the majority of the 2025 season, as she was sidelined throughout the campaign with various lower-body injuries.
Clark is finally healthy again and will be suiting up for Team USA this month for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It’ll be the superstar’s debut for the U.S. senior team, and she’ll be entering her third season, but her star power is unparalleled.
This year, Clark’s debut signature sneaker will release, and it’s one of the most anticipated sneaker releases of all time. Now, one sports analyst is taking it to a new level when it comes to discussing her star power.
Former NFL players Emmanuel Acho and LeSean McCoy discussed Coark on their “Speakeasy” podcast, and McCoy’s comments are sure to lead to debate online.
“She’s like top three, might be two,” McCoy said, via OutKick. “No, she is one. She’s the most influential women’s athlete of all time.”
“I think Serena Williams was great. But who was watching women’s basketball? You weren’t. I wasn’t,” McCoy continued. “Then we get this girl like Steph Curry, and everybody watches it, to this day.
“Women’s basketball is looked at like the NBA, like the NFL. They’ve got their own channels now on ESPN. When was the last time you heard people talking about women’s basketball on TV? Now they’re going to talk about Luka, and they’re going to talk about Caitlin Clark.”
For now, this is a controversial take. However, if Clark can stay healthy, it’s hard to imagine anything stopping her from retiring as the greatest WNBA player ever.
