The Indiana Fever are finally starting to climb in the standings with all-star captain Caitlin Clark back in the starting lineup after missing a couple of weeks with a groin injury, her second significant injury of the season.
The Fever have won three games in a row. Unfortunately, the third game in the sequence, an 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night, may prove to be a costly one.
“Fever pull out a 85-77 win but concern remains over the status of Caitlin Clark, who appeared to leave the court in pain, grabbing her inner thigh/groin area. Will get more from Stephanie White shortly,” reported ESPN’s Alexa Philippou after the game.
Philippou then followed up with Fever head coach Stephanie White’s official statement.
“Caitlin Clark ‘felt a little something in her groin,’ Stephanie White said, and will be evaluated after the apparent injury.”
Fans reacted to the brutal development on social media.
“It has been obvious she never fully healed. I don’t see her playing against NY or in the All Star game. Truth is she probably needs to be put down for the rest of July,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“She got hurt during training camp and hasn’t been the same since, rest up,” someone else wrote.
“Caitlin Clark should fire her trainer. This is her 3rd strain in 3 months,” added another fan.
It’ll be interesting to see what the severity of this injury is.
