Indiana Fever star point guard Caitlin Clark is having a frustrating 2025 season. For the first time since she played at the high school level, Clark was forced to miss game time due to injury after a quad injury that kept her out for over two weeks.
Unfortunately, after returning to play, not only did Clark struggle with her scoring efficiency, but she was forced to miss time again, this time with a groin injury. Clark missed another couple of weeks with the groin injury.
Following her recovery from the groin injury, Clark joined the Fever amid a three-game win streak, and while she still struggled with her efficiency, her impact on the court was obvious. However, it seems Clark may have returned too soon, as she appeared to tweak her groin in the waning minutes of a win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night.
Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White confirmed after the game that Clark “felt a little something in her groin.”
Now, one of ESPN’s lead WNBA insiders is officially reporting on Clark’s status for Wednesday night’s game against the New York Liberty.
“Caitlin Clark is listed as QUESTIONABLE with a right groin injury for tonight’s game against the New York Liberty,” reported Alexa Philippou.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Just say she’s out. Was in tears last night there’s zero shot she plays,” one fan tweeted.
“How is she not ‘out’ like seriously what is the point?” someone else added.
“Please do not play Caitlin Clark. She did not look ok after that groin injury, as she was in tears. Just make sure she is 100% healthy for late season and the playoffs,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see what level of caution the Fever approaches this situation with.
