On Friday night, Brittney Griner will make her official return to the basketball court, playing her first game since returning home from her 10-month detainment in Russia. It’s going to be a celebratory occasion, and even her opponents are excited about it.
Ahead of Friday night’s game, the Los Angeles Sparks released a video on social media that showed several members of the team sending Brittney Griner a message before her return.
“What I love about having BC back on the court is that basketball is her safe space,” “Growing up in Houston texas together alongside my sister. We followed her career closely, we supported each other. And just to have her back, it means the world to us,” Chiney Ogwumike said in the video.
“What I’m most looking forward to about having BG back on the floor is her dominance in the paint and making everybody else rise up their level of play. We definitely missed her,” Nneka Ogwumike said in the video.
“There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t think about her. I was praying for her – just for her mental health and her well-being. So to just see her back on the court right now and to just physically be able to see her – I don’t think words will describe the feeling. But I’m looking forward to mostly just giving her a nice hug,” Azura Stevens said in the video.
It’s safe to say Griner will have a warm welcome when she returns to the court.
