After spending almost 10 months in a Russian penal colony, WNBA superstar Brittney Griner was finally released after she was arrested on drug charges and given a shocking nine-year prison sentence. And now that Griner has returned home and even going out in public, she now heads into her next step of returning to the basketball court as she plans to return to the Phoenix Mercury this season. That could be a little more difficult for her this season with her potentially needing more security and potentially private travel. But one other WNBA star has her back.

While Brittney Griner and her unique needs could set up quite a problem for the WNBA this season, star free agent Breanna Stewart has announced a major move to help make all of that possible for Griner.

“I would love to be part of a deal that helps subsidize charter travel for the entire WNBA. I would contribute my NIL, posts + production hrs to ensure we all travel in a way that prioritizes player health + safety, which ultimately results in a better product. Who’s with me?” Stewart wrote in a post on Twitter.

It’s definitely an unselfish move of Stewart to look out for her fellow WNBA player. We will see how the WNBA reacts.
