The Chicago Sky are struggling on the court this season. The Sky entered Tuesday’s game against the Washington Mystics at 5-12, leaving them on the outside of the playoff picture, looking in.
In recent weeks, Sky star Angel Reese has turned in superstar-level performances as she looks to help Chicago claw its way back into the playoff picture. Unfortunately for Reese and the Sky, Chicago lost Tuesday’s contest to the Mystics 81-79, despite another strong performance from Reese that saw her score 22 points to go along with 15 rebounds.
However, the biggest takeaway from the game may be a now-viral clip of Reese smacking an assistant coach’s clipboard out of her hands in a frustration-induced meltdown.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Another year of not making the playoffs even after you cried about refs and got every single 50/50 call to put you at the line for 15 shots today,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Do you say the same about the Jim Carrey look-a-like who slams towels and water bottles on the bench, cusses at the refs, throws her hands in the air and yells at teammates? What about when her own dad told her to shut up from the stands?” another fan said, referencing Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
“This is why the Sky keep losing. It is all about Reese and not the team or winning. I thought the new coach would change this but it is still all about keeping her streaks alive and her name out there to draw crowds,” someone else added.
Hopefully, Reese learns to keep her composure as her career stretches on.
