The WNBA has exploded since Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reeese entered the league in the 2024 draft. The league has seen an exponential rise in game attendance and television viewership.
The Fever and Sky have also become the league’s biggest rivalry, with fireworks seeming to go off whenever the two face each other. Both have beaten the other over their two seasons in the WNBA, but Reese has just gotten the upper hand in an off-court victory: beating Caitlin Clark to market in the signature shoe game.
Reese dropped her first signature shoe, the Angel Reese 1s, on Thursday morning, September 18, and according to Reebok, they sold out in minutes.
“Today I get to share a dream turned reality—my very first shoe (…) I can’t even put into words how PROUD I am of this moment, how THANKFUL I am for the journey, and how GRATEFUL I am for every single person who has supported me along the way. 23 years old… and I just dropped my very first signature shoe. WOW,” Reese posted on Twitter on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the drop on social media.
“Congratulations young lady. I’m so proud to see all that you have accomplished so far. The best is yet to come. I’m sitting here thinking, never in my 52 yrs of life have I owned a pair of Reebok. That will change with your shoe,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Congrats, black queen. You just keep putting shit n they mouth when they hate. lol we love you,” somoene else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Clark’s shoes, which will be with Nike, perform when they finally drop.
