LSU Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey has been criticized over the years for the way she has handled her players throughout the years. That’s been especially seen with her former players, a lot of whom transferred to other programs.
But one former player who was grateful for the discipline she learned from Mulkey is the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese.
Reese praised her former head coach in a recent interview.
“She’s not going to let you not be confident. She’s going to break you down before she builds you back up. She’s going to coach you hard. She’s going to tell you the things that you need to work on. … I’m where I am right now because she coached me so hard,” said Reese, via GeauxTigerHoops on Twitter/X.
Sometimes Mulkey coaches too hard, according to some. A few months ago around the start of the NCAA Tournament, a Washington Post article was released on Mulkey that painted a different picture of the LSU head coach.
It painted a woman who seemed homophobic and didn’t approve of the sexuality of some of her players, and a coach who at times would crack the whip harder than necessary.
While her style may not have worked with some players, apparently that wasn’t the case for Reese.
