On Monday morning, the college football world was hit with some tragic news that college football player Jaden Hullaby had passed away after he had previously been reported missing by his family. And his former coach is mourning the loss of the young athlete.
Jaden Hullaby played for Steve Sarkisian for just one season before transferring to New Mexico State in 2022, but based on his words, it sounds like Hullaby made quite an impact on him during his time with the team.
“It’s such devastating and tragic news to hear of Jaden’s passing,” Sarkisian wrote in a statement on Twitter. “He was a great person and someone we all enjoyed being around, coaching and spending time with. All of our thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates, and we want to send out deepest condolences to them in such a difficult time.”
Hullaby signed with Texas out of high school in 2020 and soon converted from running back to linebacker. After playing sparingly toward the end of his 2020 season and not playing at all during the 2021 season, Jaden Hullaby transferred to New Mexico State where he converted to tight end.
The family has not shared specifics regarding Hullaby’s death, but he was reported missing on Sunday before his brother, Texas Tech defensive back Landon Hullaby, announced on Twitter that he had passed away.
