Earlier this month, New York Jets team owner Woody Johnson revealed that he would be willing to pay the necessary price to bring in an elite quarterback this offseason, and that’s led to some speculation and reports that the Jets could be interested in trading for Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. And the Jets recently made a move that hints at that possibility.
On Thursday morning, news broke that the Jets were hiring former Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett as their next offensive coordinator. While the move itself is newsworthy enough, many are speculating that it may be an attempt to lure Aaron Rodgers to New York.
And plenty of people had reactions to that news and speculation on Twitter.
The speculation stems from a successful stint that Aaron Rodgers and Nathaniel Hackett have together. Hackett was the offensive coordinator for the Green Back Packers from 2019 to 2021. During that time, Rodgers won the league MVP Award twice, earning it in both 2020 and 2021.
Of course, there’s no guarantee that Rodgers will follow Hackett to the Jets. Last season, the Broncos hired Hackett with hopes of luring Rodgers to Denver, but that obviously did not happen. We’ll have to see if this time is any different.
