The New York Times recently ran a controversial report about women college athletes’ success in using their bodies to garner massive Name, Image and Likeness earnings.
LSU Tigers gymnast Olivia Dunne was one target of the report. Though the gymnast hasn’t earned multiple national championships, she has earned over $2 million in NIL wages. She also has a TikTok following of 6.3 million fans.
Dunne harnessed that following on Thursday when she released a short Christmas-themed TikTok taking aim at the Times‘ reporting:
The video features the song, It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas. In it, Dunne presents her Christmas Wishlist:
- Be on The New York Times
- Sugardaddy [sic]
- More friends
- PS5
When the list hits the New York Times section, Dunne mouths “Oh my god!” and waves “no” to the camera.
“I’d rather be a lump of coal,” wrote in the caption of the video. The video has been viewed over 1.6 millions as of Friday morning.
This was not Dunne’s first shot at the NYT. She released a previous video with a more subtle shot at the newspaper last week.
