Sweden continued its dominating run over the United States Women’s Team on Sunday by handing them their earliest World Cup exit in history.
Legendary midfielder Megan Rapinoe, who came into the 0-0 game late and failed to make an impact, missed a critical penalty kick in extra time that turned the tide against the American women.
This came on the heels of Sweden handing America its earliest knockout from a world tournament at the 2016 Olympics and humbling them 3-0 in the 2021 Olympics.
Former American president Donald Trump wasted no time in sending a brutal message to Rapinoe and the women’s national team.
“The ‘shocking and totally unexpected’ loss by the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to the [sic] our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Many of our players were openly hostile to America – No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close. WOKE EQUALS FAILURE.
“Nice shot Megan, the USA is [getting bad]!!! MAGA.”
Rapinoe, who called her miss “dark comedy” in the post-loss press conference, didn’t immediately respond to Trump’s insult.
The world was quick to react to the news of Trump sending a brutal message to America’s team:
