One country desperately hopes its star player makes it to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. They are willing to go to any length to ensure he does. Even if that means using witch doctors.
Sadio Mané is one of the best players in the world. He is a celebrated star out of the country of Senegal and one of the best African footballers ever. Mané has excelled in both club and international play. He scored 34 goals in 93 international appearances since 2012, which includes eight in 2022 alone. But recently he suffered an injury while playing with his club, FC Bayern Munich. The injury, to his right fibula, was suffered in a match against SV Werder Bremen.
Mané’s status for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar is now in doubt. But the country of Senegal is going to great lengths to ensure proper status for the World Cup as they intend to use witch doctors to help his cause:
Get French Football News tweeted Thursday, “FIFA General Secretary Fatma Samoura has said that Senegal will use witch doctors to help Sadio Mané (30) compete in the upcoming World Cup.” The tweet includes a report by way of Europe 1 that elaborated:
“Samoura has now revealed the lengths that Senegal will go to to ensure Mané’s participation in the World Cup, which begins in just over a week. ‘We are going to use witch doctors,’ she said,” reporter Luke Entwistle wrote. The article continued, “Questioned on their efficacy, she responded, ‘I don’t know (if they’re effective) but in this instance, we’re going to use them anyway. We are hoping for miracles. He has to be there!”
The use of witch doctors is not unfamiliar to the world’s game as Paul Pogba admitted to utilizing witchcraft, though for different reasons.
