Throughout soccer’s offseason and the most recent transfer window, Kyle Walker had been heavily linked to a move to Bayern Munich.
But not only is the England native staying put at Manchester City, he has signed a new extension with the club, which will now keep him under contract until 2026.
The right back and his club announced the new deal on Thursday, doing so with a hilarious video parodying the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street. In the video, Walker can be seen playing the role of Leonard DiCaprio, standing at a microphone and somberly saying “I’m not leaving” before getting progressively more excited and animated as his audience — in this case, his Man City teammates — erupts in applause.
Considered one of the best right backs in the world, the 33-year-old Walker has been a key member of Manchester City’s roster since first joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017. Last season he appeared in 39 games, as Manchester City completed a rare “Treble” winning the English Premier League championship and trophies in the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.
Thus far in the 2023-24 campaign, Walker has appeared in four EPL games with Manchester City currently sitting in first place with 12 points to their credit.
