Landon Donovan is only 34 years old, yet he retired from professional soccer just after turning 33. Now, two years after retiring, Donovan is reportedly trying to make a comeback.
Two years after helping lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to the MLS Cup in 2014, Donovan is rejoining the team.
The Los Angeles Times reported two of its sources confirmed Donovan’s return and signing with the Galaxy could be announced Thursday. Donovan has not been seen training regularly with the Galaxy first team, so his first game could be a ways away.
With 183 career MLS goals, Donovan is the all-time MLS leader in goals. He is also the leading scorer in U.S. National Team history with 57 goals.
The 34-year-old retired six months after he was cut from the U.S. National Team before the 2014 World Cup. Back in 2010, Landon Donovan saved the United States in the World Cup with one of the most famous goals in U.S. soccer history against Algeria.
