Much was made about the difficulties surrounding FIFA’s decision to host the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States this year (as well as next year’s FIFA World Cup) during a staunch anti-immigration administration, as the one that is currently in Washington, D.C.
However, it was too late to reverse course, and things went as planned, with Chelsea FC ultimately defeating PSG in the final to bring home the trophy. Well, not bring home the trophy, exactly, as United States President Donald Trump had something else in mind.
“President Trump has revealed that the champions of the Club World Cup won’t be getting the original trophy, because he’s keeping it,” reported The Daily Beast on Monday.
People reacted to the news on social media.
“It’s weird how many things you’d think have to be satire, aren’t satire when it comes to this idiot. Didn’t he used to make fun of participation trophies?” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Petty little man who thinks he deserves a trophy for a game he’s never played nor probably ever watched. He never fails to embarrass America. He can amass all the fortune he wants, in the end, he won’t be taking anything with him. People go out of this world the way they came in,” another fan added.
“He does covet what he’s never worked for. It’s amazing that people just ignore who he really is and what he’s done to others his whole life. It’s also interesting how if any of his life was a reg person, they definitely wld not have gotten so many passes without accountability,” added someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see if Trump is forced to eventually hand over the hardware.
