The FIFA Club World Cup was held in the United States this year. The Final took place on Sunday between Chelsea FC and Paris Saint-Germain. Ultimately, Chelsea FC cruised to a 3-0 victory.
Unfortunately for the players and staff involved in the victory, they won’t be taking home the trophy that they fought for and earned, according to The Daily Beast.
“President Trump has revealed that the champions of the Club World Cup won’t be getting the original trophy, because he’s keeping it,” the outlet reported on Twitter on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Petty little man who thinks he deserves a trophy for a game he’s never played nor probably ever watched. He never fails to embarrass America. He can amass all the fortune he wants, in the end, he won’t be taking anything with him. People go out of this world the way they came in,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“mg. He loves taking credit and getting recognized for something he had nothing to do with…how embarrassing. The actual winners get cheated of what’s due to them. Oh yeah…that’s what he’s always done,” someone else added.
“It’s not just luxury planes that he keeps. Sticky Fingers Trump steals everything that’s not nailed down,” wrote another person.
It’s shocking that FIFA is letting the President keep the trophy at all.
