Legacy Motor Club driver Noah Gragson will be sidelined for Sunday’s race at Sonoma Raceway as he continues to recover from a concussion he suffered in last weekend’s race.
The race team announced that NASCAR Truck Series veteran Grant Enfinger will drive the No. 42 Chevrolet at Sonoma this weekend. A nine-time winner in the truck series, Enfinger will be making his NASCAR Cup Series debut.
“Noah’s health is the highest of priorities and we commend him for making the decision to sit out this weekend,” Legacy Motor Club co-owners Maury Gallagher and Jimmie Johnson said in a statement. “We are appreciative that Grant was available and willing to step in since the Truck Series is off this weekend.”
“My thoughts are with Noah, I know how much he loves this team and the guys on it,” Enfinger said in the statement. “I’m happy to help out Legacy Motor Club and the No. 42 team.”
Gragson suffered the concussion in a crash on Lap 197 Sunday at World Wide Technology Raceway. Although he was evaluated at the infield care center and released, he began experiencing concussion-like symptoms a few days after returning home.
The 24-year-old Gragson is currently 32nd in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.
