United States President Donald Trump has been busy since returning to the Oval Office. Many have appreciated Trump’s return to the White House, while others are despondent that Trump, with his divisive rhetoric, has executive power again.
Last Week, Trump made headlines when he attended the Daytona 500, where he wore a special Daytona 500 jacket and did a lap around the track.
This Week, former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines gave Trump a special mention during a pre-race prayer.
“We thank you for this day and the unity that brings us together,” Gaines said.
“Heavenly father, bless President Donald J. Trump, his cabinet, and all of our leaders, that they may seek your guidance in all of decisions. If this is done, we will never be wrong, and America will be made great again.”
However, not every NASCAR fan was thrilled with Gaines’s mention of the President and feel the President’s constant presence is ruining the sport.
“Yeah I turned it off as soon as the blonde who I’m just assuming is a stripper mentioned vice president Trump during the invocation,” one fan wrote on social media.
“”NASCAR is really selling out! First letting Trump come and drive around the track now letting Riley Gaines to the invocation absolutely messed up,” added someone else.
“Hey (NASCAR) can we not have pre race be a trump rally every week? Racing is supposed to be INCLUSIVE president trump is far from that. K thanks,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting if NASCAR opts for more politically neutral prayers moving forward.
