MotoGP is in the United States for the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas. It’s the one time of the year the premier motorcycle racing series comes to this part of the world.
One rider is already having a bad weekend. Gresini Racing rider Álex Márquez crashed during Saturday’s sprint race, but it wasn’t for any usual reason. After the race, Márquez revealed that he vomited inside his helmet, causing him to crash while braking for the Turn 12 hairpin at COTA.
Márquez said, “I was feeling good performance-wise in the race, as despite a crash in qualifying, we still had the confidence and a good pace. Unfortunately, I wasn’t feeling good physically, and I even threw up under braking at Turn 12 and crashed.”
Márquez had the bike, but his body was keeping him back. After “freeing himself” after the race, Márquez told reporters he’s feeling “quite well” for the feature race on Sunday.
Along with Márquez, Prima Pramac Racing rider Jorge Martín felt unwell on Saturday. Martín moved from 12th to third in the sprint race, despite battling an illness that resulted in his mouth being full of mucus and unable to breathe after the third lap.
The Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas will take place at 3:00 et Sunday on CNBC.
