Now that Bubba Wallace has made the NASCAR playoffs for the first time in his career, he has silenced a lot of his critics who didn’t think he was a good driver.
One person who has high praise for Wallace is former teammate and fellow driver Kurt Busch. Busch had high praise for Wallace’s run recently to the playoffs, especially after the race in Bristol.
“This is huge. This is something that takes a team all the way through – whether it’s simulator work, whether it’s our owner (and Bristol race winner Denny Hamlin) that’s doing burnouts, as I’m speaking,” he said.
Wallace had a nice run at Bristol, which allowed him to move along in the playoff hunt.
Since his career-ending injury at Ponco last year, Busch now serves as a mentor to Wallace and Tyler Reddick on the 23XL team.
Reddick also moved on to the second round of the playoffs. Busch is pleased with how both have been able to utilize the team they are surrounded with.
“There’s a strategy call. There’s a driver’s duty. There’s a pit crew duty. This is all the teamwork that I’ve talked about for years on how I’ve lost races and won races. I’m so happy to see all of this,” Busch said.
This might be the biggest year 23XL has ever had as a team.
