Drake dropped his new album, Certified Lover Boy, on Friday. Naturally, social media has been all over the many references, name drops, and guest appearances involved.
Also on Friday, Drake released the music video for Way 2 Sexy, which features Future and Young Thug. And when you watch the video, you’ll also notice a fourth person making an appearance…Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard. Leonard, known for being awkward and a little weird in some of his public appearances, comes off pretty awkward and a little weird.
The whole thing, which features the foursome in all-white standing in the middle of the desert, is presumably a riff on boy band music videos. Though, while the whole thing is a bit tongue-in-cheek, Kawhi’s commitment to the bit makes it hard to tell if he’s in on the joke or even knows where he is and what is going on.
Twitter did not wait very long to pounce.
Drake and Kawhi’s relationship goes back to when Leonard led the Toronto Raptors, Drake’s hometown team, to the NBA Championship in 2019. Some have wondered if Drake’s recruitment efforts to keep Kawhi in Toronto before he left for the Clippers backfired, but clearly, the two are still on good terms. Along with the appearance in the video, Drake also gave Leonard a shoutout on the new song The Remorse.
