Bill Simmons and HBO are taking a page from the AMC playbook and bringing a new aftershow to the table for Game of Thrones fans. After the Thrones, a weekly show highlighting the most recent episode of HBO’s hit Game of Thrones will begin airing this month with hosts Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan from The Ringer.
AMC has been doing something similar for a few years now with Chris Hardwick hosting aftershows for some of AMC’s biggest hits. Hardwick hosts Talking Dead the same night as the series The Walking Dead airs, and he previously hosted a Breaking Bad discussion show, Talking Bad. Now HBO and Simmons are getting in the game with their new Game of Thrones discussion show, which will first hit the air on April 24.

Simmons has long been one to take advantage of the growing mediums in the industry. After the Thrones will be available on HBO’s expanding services HBO Now, HBO Go and HBO On Demand in addition to a to-be-announced set time on HBO’s main channel. The show should have a smooth transition with the hosts. Greenwald and Ryan have been hosting the Watch the Thrones podcast on Simmons’ last media venture, Grantland. Once Grantland disintegrated, The Watch podcast moved over to Channel 33. Simmons will hold an executive producer title for the After the Shows program.
