Chris Broussard rips Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s criticism of Will Smith

Now that everyone had a chance to give their opinion on Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, it’s time to start giving takes about other takes, and Fox Sports host Chris Broussard had a strong one Wednesday morning.

Earlier this week, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar criticized Smith’s actions, claiming the King Richard star “advocated violence, diminished women, insulted the entertainment industry, and perpetuated stereotypes about the Black community.”

Appearing on Fox Sports’ Undisputed with Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe, Broussard condemned Abdul-Jabbar’s criticism of Smith.

“I reject Kareem’s statement,” Broussard said. “It’s almost like giving whites an excuse for not hiring us or treating us right. ‘Here we go, we get a chance on national TV and now we’re acting violent’…The discrimination and oppression we have faced and continue to face in this country has nothing to do with our behavior. NOTHING”

To support his case, Broussard used the treatment of former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump as an example.

“President Barack Obama was maybe the most dignified, respectful, educated president in the history of our country – certainly one of them,” said Broussard. “And they disrespected him, comparing him and his wife to a monkey. Called him a liar in a congressional meeting. And then, Donald Trump – as crass as it gets, publicly admits to sexually harassing women, he’s elected president!”

“I’m the first one to go out in our community and be like, ‘we gotta clean up some of our behavior,’ so I’m not excusing some of that stuff,” Broussard added. “But I’m not letting that be an excuse for whites to continue to discriminate against us. They have oppressed us and not hired us because of racism.”
