Donald Trump and Joe Rogan

Longtime UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan has been pretty open about his support for Donald Trump in recent months, even publicly endorsing him in the 2024 presidential election. However, some recent comments from Rogan indicate that his opinion has soured.

Earlier this month, in response to Trump’s words about the death of filmmaker Rob Reiner, Rogan did not hold back as he called Trump’s antics “crazy” and “disappointing,” saying he has “no empathy.”

After the death of Reiner and his wife, Trump posted that they were killed “due to the anger he caused others through … a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”

Rogan was clearly not a fan of Trump’s comments.

“The Rob Reiner thing is not funny,” Rogan told podcast guest Shane Gillis. “When you see it with no empathy, that’s when it’s hard to like.”

Rogan went on to say that there is “no justification” for Trump’s comments in a compassionate society, and he questioned how the public response would be if President Barack Obama made similar comments.

“It’s no different than people that were celebrating when Charlie Kirk got shot. It’s the same kind of thing,” Rogan said. “Imagine if Obama tweeted something about someone after they died in this way. That this person was a deranged person that hated Obama.”

Rogan said that it shows how “crazy” the way Trump thinks.

“It just shows you how crazy it is, the way Trump thinks and talks,” Rogan said on his podcast. “It’s just like, the guy got sliced up by his kid, you know? Anybody that doesn’t see that and go, ‘[expletive], man.’”

This was not the first time that Rogan has broken ranks with Trump. Back in March, Rogan expressed his outrage that a gay stylist and makeup artist seeking asylum had been deported.

“If you want compassionate people to be on board with you, you can’t deport gay hairdressers seeking asylum – that’s [freaking] crazy – and then throw them in an El Salvador prison,” he said, via The Guardian.

Now, Rogan has spoken out against Trump yet again.

During a recent interview with Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Rogan sympathized with those who have expressed anger and frustration with the Trump administration’s handling of immigration enforcement.

“You don’t want militarized people in the streets just roaming around, snatching up people — many of which turn out to be U.S. citizens that just don’t have their papers on them,” Rogan said on Tuesday’s episode of his podcast, likely referring to the president’s deployment of National Guard soldiers to aid in the crackdown.

“Are we really gonna be the Gestapo, ‘Where’s your papers?’ Is that what we’ve come to?” Rogan asked.

Needless to say, it’s pretty clear that Rogan is not the same Trump supporter that he used to be. We’ll have to see if this trend continues.
