American President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were supposed to welcome the Las Vegas Aces to the White House on Friday to celebrate their WNBA championship.
However, when the Aces arrived, they were greeted by Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.
“When they initially announced this event, it said the president and the first lady were going to host the Aces today,” Fox News White House reporter Peter Doocy said Friday, according to The New York Post.
“But then, they extended their vacation. They were supposed to get back yesterday, now they don’t get back until tomorrow. So that is how you wind up getting feted at the White House by the vice president instead of by the president.
The Aces went 30-4 on the season. According to The Post, the Aces set the WNBA record for regular season wins with six games to play and are the “prohibitive favorites” to repeat as champions with -230 odds on FanDuel.
The White House also courted controversy with the NCAA women’s championship when Jill Biden suggested that the runner-up Iowa Hawkeyes also be invited alongside the champion LSU Tigers.
