Earlier this year, NBA megastar LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record to become the NBA’s all-time scoring leader, adding another argument that he is the greatest basketball player of all time. He’s become so dominant that he’s now become synonymous with greatness – even to politicians.
This week, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) – a massive gathering attended by conservative activists and elected officials from across the United States – is taking place at Gaylord National Harbor in Maryland, just outside of Washington D.C.
During the conference, United States congressman James Comer out of Kentucky was speaking about fellow congressman Jim Jordan, who represents Ohio’s 4th district. While praising Jordan, Comer affectionately referred to the Ohio congressman as “the LeBron James of the House Republican conference.”
“Jim’s the GOAT. Jim is the LeBron James of the House Republican conference,” Comer said. “And Jim gets words per minute in than I do, I don’t know if anyone has noticed that.”
Jim Jordan and LeBron James do have a little bit in common – they were both born and raised in the state of Ohio and were dominant athletes in their day. But given LeBron’s political leanings, it’s probably safe to say he won’t appreciate this comparison.
