Herschel Walker, the Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia, faces incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock in the most brutal election of the 2022 midterm cycle.
As the campaign enters its final days, Walker is doubling down on a closing argument centered around transgender athlete participation in women’s sports.
“Men should not be in women’s sports. “That’s like asking me to compete against your daughter. You don’t want that,” he said to “laughter and applause” in McDonough, Georgia. “The definition of a woman is written in my Bible, and it says: man and woman,” he added, according to Axios.
Walker also claimed to know know what a pronoun is during another stop in Dalton, Georgia.
“I don’t even know what a pronoun is. I’m sick and tired of this pronoun stuff,” Walker said.
Walker’s latest move is curious to at least one Republican operative. “They must have some data that shows that this moves people,” Republican Georgia strategist Brian Robinson theorized to Axios.
LGTBQ groups have crushed Walker for his anti-transgender messaging in the past.
Georgia voters head to the polls on Dec. 6th to decide the head-to-head election. Democrats already retained control of the Senate in 2023 in the Nov. 8th election.
