The Georgia run-off election between Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker and incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock is coming down to the wire. Tuesday is the final day for voting in what has been the most bruising election of the 2022 midterm election cycle.
Both the polls and the betting markets seem to imply that Warnock is ahead so Walker has pulled out all the stops in an attempt to make a good showing, even in the face of mounting criticism from within his own party.
The former Georgia Bulldogs star spoke at a rally this weekend where he brought up the U.S. military and the perceived focus within on the use of “pronouns,” a reference to how many people will identify by specific pronouns related to their gender identity. Walker not only said he doesn’t want pronouns in the military but he doesn’t even know what a pronoun is.
“They’re bringing pronouns into our military, they’re bringing woke-ness into our military—I don’t even know what the heck is a pronoun,” he said at a rally Sunday. “I can tell you that I’m sick and tired of this pronoun stuff. What I want our military men and women to do is to be at war fighting.”
A pronoun is defined as “any of a small set of words (such as I, she, he, you, it, we, or they) that are used as substitutes for nouns or noun phrases and whose referents are named or understood in the context.” It’s a concept that is taught in every elementary school in the United States.
Walker would also prefer that American military members be “at war fighting,” though he doesn’t make it clear who they should be fighting or why.
