As Georgia’s Republican nominee for Senate, Herschel Walker has zeroed in on the biggest challenge facing America and he came up with a hot take of an answer.
The former Georgia Bulldogs running back and NFL star recently spoke with Ben Carson in a conversation for the American Cornerstone Institute. During the interview, Carson asked Walker, “what do you see as some of the biggest problems going on in our country today?”
Walker could have offered an answer that included gun violence, affordable health care, racism, climate change, or even illegal immigration. Instead, the retired, but still famous football player claimed the biggest hurdle America faces is famous people.
“I think some of the biggest problems going on in our country today, we have so many celebrities telling people that they can’t do it. Telling a lot of people, ‘oh, well, you got to feel bad for yourself, feel sorry for yourself’ Which is sad to me,” Walker answered. “They’ve done it, but they’re telling you you can’t do it. And it’s like, you did it, why they can’t do it? I think they tell all the kids they can’t do it, making our kids feel sorry for themselves.”
Walker’s latest large compilation of words continues what has been a polarizing run for office, one that even includes criticism from Republicans for opting out of GOP events and debates. Despite his lack of political prowess and polish, Walker coasted to winning the Republican nomination, largely because he is a celebrity in Georgia.
