The topic of transgender athletes in women’s sports has been a highly debated topic in recent months as states and sports leagues have made their ruling on the morality of the issue. UFC president Dana White recently offered his opinion on the matter.
White has been in the world of combat sports for over 20 years within the UFC alone. He also famously said that women would never compete in the organization, which of course ended up happening in 2013.
Now, it seems like he wants to protect women’s sports, or at least not allow transgender athletes into women’s sports. He spoke about the issue earlier this month, using his daughter as an example of why naturally born males turned female should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports in his opinion.
“I think you know exactly what I think about that,” said White in an interview with Piers Morgan. “Let me put it this way, I have a daughter and I don’t ever want to see a day where a biological male is competing against my daughter. It’s another nutty, insane thing that is happening in the world today that we are all trying to deal with. My daughter is a cheerleader, she doesn’t play any competitive sports. It hasn’t happened in the cheer world yet.”
It certainly isn’t all that surprising to hear White feels this way on the matter. He notably spoke on behalf of Donald Trump at the 2016 Republican National Convention. And Trump has been outspoken against transgender athletes in women’s sports. He even said just months ago that he would ban men from competing in women’s sports.
