Chris Christie spoke about Republican Senator candidate Herschel Walker and his chances of winning the upcoming crucial Georgia Senate Runoff.
Christie’s optimism he has for a Herschel Walker victory in the hotly-contested runoff isn’t high. The former Republican Governor of the state of New Jersey appeared on an episode of This Week on ABC with George Stephanopoulos. Christie explained that Governor Brian Kemp (R) would be a key reason why Walker would win.
Christie said, via The Hill, “He would be the first human being who ever dragged Herschel Walker over the goal line.”
Not really a ringing endorsement for Walker.
Neither were comments he made later about why he could lose. Christie stated that the Democrats, who closed the gap in the House and Senate, would help to interfere with what Republicans want to hear. The Democrats took the Senate and a victory for Reverend Raphael Warnock would clinch them a 51st Senator.
He said, also via The Hill, “Warnock appears to have momentum. And let’s face it, he came into this with a lead from election night, right? So Walker has got ground to make up. … What hurts the Republicans the most is you can’t argue now that this is for control.”
Christie suggested that the Senate candidate and his chances could be hurt by poor turnout because of how things swung on Election Night.
Walker and Warnock are locked in a tight battle in the Georgia Senate Runoff. The voting will conclude later this week on Tuesday, December 6.
